A prescription for Covid-19

Updated: Mar 28, 2020

Some flu for thought

All this corona scare, is it really justified? Precautions- yes, but fear- certainly a big NO. Prevention- yes, but overreaction- a big NO.

So far, governments have shut borders, public events stopped, and so on. Everyone is reacting. For starters, the government needs to play safe. the media needs something to shout about.Malaria kills a lot of people each year, but is not as interesting. The bizarre part is they cant shut borders to mosquitoes !

So how do these numbers compare to flu deaths in previous years? So far, it looks like the 2019-2020 death toll won’t be as high as it was in the 2017-2018 season, when 61,000 deaths were linked to a flu virus.CDC estimates that 12,000 and 61,000 deaths annually since 2010 can be blamed on the flu. Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year. That is not even 0.001% of the world population.

Grow up, media!

The annual death rate depends on the specific strain of the virus that is dominant, how well the vaccine is working to protect against that strain, and how many people got vaccinated. The flu is harder to fight off for specific populations, such as infants and young children, the elderly, and people who are immunocompromised due to chronic illnesses such as HIV or cancer.

The fact that people are more concerned about COVID-19 than the flu virus is not a surprise, though it is definitely concerning. It is another emerging infectious disease that is shrouded in mystery with a lot of unknowns, that captivates people in a way that a regular virus that people deal with on a yearly basis won’t.In a few weeks- months, once a vaccine is found, this will be part of history!

Calm down folks - its another virus, here's a non- doc prescription that should work too

Rx

Vit K ( keep calm) Vit C ( take vit C) Vit L ( loads of laughter- strengthens immunity, suggest watch Mr Bean regularly , do that with exercise -vit E too ) Vit H ( wash hands regularly), and stay happy at home!

Vit D- Keep distance

Vit 0 - Follow orders by the Government
